I’ve always wanted to visit this library but I have never really gotten any chance to do it. During my this trip in February (the coldest week) I took the whole afternoon to visit the library which I think it was one of the best choice I made! This place is not only beautiful from the outside but it really amazes me from the inside too! It has many different entrances and you have to go through the security, there are many floor, I only visited the ground and the second floor, half of the library it’s like a museum and it has also many different rooms with different exhibitions the part I like the most were the gift shop which I spent a big part of my afternoon buying gifts for friends and family it really has so many different and the cutest souvenirs of New York City and books. My other favorite part of the library was the stairs, it appears in the Sex and the city ( the chapter which Carrie and Mr Big were getting married).
My whole experience in here was 100/10, I’d definitely recommend this place to everyone to visit. This place is just so amazing not only for visitors but it provides free books, information, ideas and it stands for FREE and open access to acknowledge for everyone.

The place is beyond beautiful. Made completely of marble, showcasing the richness of architecture, carpentry and preservation. It felt more like a museum than a library. Did I say it is free? Well it is! There was no wait time on the weekend. There is a reading/study room which can be visited in the mornings. Entry to this room is subjective.

Wow! I have seen this library so many times in the movies. It was great to experience in person. It was gorgeous! I love the architecture of the building. The marble is so unique and aesthetic. You do have to go through security but it's okay. They move pretty fast.

Beautiful library. It really is grandious.

Known for its grand entrance flanked by the famous stone lions, Patience and Fortitude.

Inside, the library has immense ceilings, marble columns, and intricate woodwork. I loved the elegance of the chandeliers, and towering bookshelves. The building also houses special collections and temporary exhibits, we got lucky to see an exhibit on the New York Times.

Beyond its stunning architecture, the library is a hub of activity, offering research resources, quiet study spaces, public events, and historical treasures like the original Winnie-the-Pooh stuffed animals (Which was one of my favorites as a kid). Whether you're a researcher, a casual visitor, or just looking for a peaceful retreat from the city's energy, the NYPL is an inspiring place to explore.

If you have the opportunity to visit, the lions and the grandeur of the library make it an unforgettable experience. In front of the library, the area is adorned with fountains and gardens that contribute to the serene atmosphere of the place. The library's plaza, called Bryant Park, is just behind the building and is a popular space for cultural activities, fairs and relaxation in the city. At the front of the library are two majestic marble lions named Patience and Fortitude. They were sculpted by Edward Clark Potter and installed in 1911. These figures have become symbols of the library and the city itself.

The Grand Central Library is a massive and impressive place. I highly recommend taking a tour—it’s full of fascinating exhibits. Personally, I was amazed by the original Winnie-the-Pooh toys and the 1455 Gutenberg Bible. Be sure to listen to the story about the library, learn where the books are stored, and don’t miss the breathtaking Rose Main Reading Room. A must-visit!
