If you want to be inspired and feel empowered to build your business you need to hear Janessa Borges! I had the absolute honor of hearing her speak at the NASW 2023 Conference in Orlando Florida. She did a workshop on how to open a private practice. I left the workshop buzzing with creativity and inspiration. Before that workshop there was such a pressure of the unknowns and doubts swimming in my head but after hearing her story and her advice I knew that this was something I could do. This is a future I can see for myself and it may be challenging but it’s possible and more than attainable. Janessa Borges covered all the topics from websites to marketing to mentorship and insurance. Her guidance was truly a game changer. If I could give anyone considering opening a private practice some advice it would be to look up Janessa Borges!

I met Jan when I was just beginning my career and we worked together in a high school. During this time, Jan had a private practice while I was still working on my licensure for counseling. Once I earned my license I was no longer working in the same district as Jan but reached out to her to see if she would allow me to pick her brain about opening a private practice. Sadly, in my experience in this field, some private practice clinicians are not very willing to help others due to competition. However, this was not the case with Jan. Jan, if anything, was extremely happy to help and be a part of my possible future success. She gave me a tour of her office at the time, shared all of her paperwork with me that took her countless hours to create and offered so much advice in general for how I should start my practice. After opening, Jan would periodically check in to see how I was doing and one time I expressed I wanted to leave insurance panels but was extremely nervous to do so. Jan was so motivational and offered so much encouragement about this topic as she was not in-network. She made me feel confident in so many ways as a new clinician. I can still remember some of what she shared with me and have passed this along to new clinicians as well. I honestly am not sure if my practice would be where it is today if it was not for Jan’s overall help and knowledge, the way she motivated me, and how confident she not only made me feel but showed me how to find that confidence within myself. She is amazing at what she does and I enthusiastically would recommend her to anyone who is in need of her help and skills.

Jan Marie is inspiration personified. I have never met someone so willing to go the extra mile to get you on the path you’re meant to be on.

I met Jan after she hired me to do some design work for her business. Little did I know that she would be the catalyst to growing my own business. She gave me the courage to take the leap and hire my first employees, fix the flaws in my business structure, and figure out what I wanted and how I was going to get it.

Janessa gave me a new chance at a happy life. When I first started seeing her I was close to rock bottom and did not know how to start digging myself out. She was so good at “reading me” and always knew just the right thing to make me search and find it within myself to start to make the positives changes I needed to become happy.

If you are looking for a therapist that will give you a cookbook with instructions on how to get better, then therapy will never help you.

Having someone who knows how to guide you into finding it deep down in your subconscious is the only way to make positive changes and keep them up. There is no quick fix, because it will also be a quick relapse.

I honestly feel Janessa helped to bring out the best in me and for that, I will be eternally grateful.

Had a wonderful evening out with the girls, many of whom I had just met there at the event! It definitely was all it was advertised to be and then some. The champagne and appetizers were a real treat, especially the presentation of the appetizers which were delicious and plentiful. Nice variety of vendors. Just wish it had been better attended for all Jan Marie put into creating the event. It was a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to more of your presentations in the future!
