Why is finding a competent writing coach so difficult? For one - exceptional is hard to come by, regardless of field.

Daniel is a phenomenal coach: he is patient, competent, straight-forward, comprehensive, and fun to work with. He takes a holistic approach to the writing process, and can offer assistance far beyond the actual essay. In my case, he aided with the technical aspects of my writing and improved my capacities for persuasive writing (not an easy task!). He also shed light and insights to the PhD process, including strategy and pacing of my communication. Writing a compelling narrative as a mid-career professional was a challenge for me. I obtained feedback from top schools that my personal statement was superior to the competition --- and I owe it to Daniel for helping me think through what to include and what to not (which was the hardest part).
