Derek our tour guide was fantastic. We did the waterfall adventure and could not have asked for a better experience. The van was comfortable, and the picnic lunch was great. The tour is very well designed, so we were interested and engaged the whole time, but also had enough time in between stops to absorb everything. Derek is friendly, kind, respectful, and shared just the right amount of information so we never felt overloaded. He obviously enjoys being a guide and is very experienced. He has lived all over and done some amazing things, and we really enjoyed hearing about his fascinating life, as well as everything he knows about the big island. The scenery is amazing. We loved the botanical garden. Swimming under a waterfall in a rainforest was a dream come true. Worth every penny. Thank you!

I was on the big island on a work trip, not much time to explore. A coworker suggested an island tour. I came across wasabi tours.
Derek our tour guide picked us up early,early in the morning, the van was full, I had the pleasure and luck to sit in front, by the driver.
Derek was a pleasure to talk to, answering all questions from my self and the others in the van. We stopped on little bakery on our way up to the National Forest. I was impressed with the cultural richness of the Island, and the varied landscape, and climate.
We looped around the Island stopping at magnificent places.(I’m terrible at remembering the names of the places) but will never forget this tour, worth every penny.
I suggest requesting Derek , he made the experience unforgettable!

Very informative and interesting tour. I loved the waterfalls, Black sand beach and volcano stops the best as a keen photographer. The island is beautiful. Our tour guide was friendly and extremely well versed.
My only advice would be to get a good nights sleep the night before. It is a LONG day! Enjoy 🙂

Tip 1: choose your seat on the van wisely… I chose one of the worst seats in the back row not near a window, so it was very hard to see everything we were driving by. Luckily, the sites off the van more than made up for that.
Tip 2: if you get carsick at all, bring something to settle your stomach… The road can be windy at times.
Tip 3: take the “long route” at Akaka Falls, the waterfall is spectacular, but the short hike through the forest to get there was even more breathtaking. It was my favorite part.
I did the 11 hour tour around the big island and it did not disappoint. Neil was our guide and he was great, very knowledgeable and friendly.
11 hours seems like a long time, but the day is paced perfectly and I never felt bored or exhausted. Such a great way to see many great spots on the island and learn at the same time.
The provided lunch was great as well.

Derek Stuart led our Big Island In A Day Tour and we had an amazing time! We’ve never met anyone so diverse in travel and where he & his family have actually lived. It was neat to have his perspective on all things, and when I say ALL THINGS, I mean ALL THINGS. There’s not much he can’t teach you about! From botany, to the landscape, to the people, to transportation…heck at the end he was teaching us the constellations and planets visible in the sky!! I took my 11 year old daughter, and he made her feel special the whole trip. He was kind, considerate, funny, and kept us comfortable for the entire 11 hour tour. I’d recommend this tour to anyone.

My husband, Anoop and I had the best experience with Wasabi Tour Company yesterday. We took the Grand Circle Big Island tour and saw the best highlights in one full day.
Our tour guide, Derek Stuart was absolutely a delight. He was very patient, friendly, funny & extremely knowledgeable…a natural. He took great care of all 10 of us and even took my request of stopping at a fruit stall for coconut water on our way back. That’s going over and above his duties as a guide because he could have just ignored it, in order to reach his home on time, but he accommodated me by making that stop. He also gave us suggestions of reasonable restaurants, farmers market etc for the rest of our stay at Big Island. He was a class act and deserves the recognition for his sincerity and hard work.
The Mercedes Shuttle was very comfortable and clean, fully equipped with raincoats and umbrellas in case of rain.
We will highly recommend this tour company to our friends and family because of Derek.

This is a wonderful and worthwhile tour! Our guide Henry was terrific! He is super knowledgable with regards to the history of the island, as well as the the places that you visit. You are transported around the area in a very comfortable temperature-controlled
vehicle. I highly recommend this excursion.
NOTE: there is not only a lot of walking, there are SEVERAL flights of stairs at the sight of the 2 waterfalls.

The Big Island Circle Tour was better than we could have dreamed. Derek was absolutely amazing and so accommodating to everyone. He drove safely, and shared so much information with a side of humor. He even assisted with photography. We will never forget the amazing sights we witnessed. We HIGHLY recommend this tour. It was worth every penny.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Henry was our guide and he was amazing. We learned so much about island history, wildlife and vegetation on the island and so much more. We had a fabulous lunch and dinner. He made sure we were comfortable and explained each stop and itinerary throughout the day. It was an all day tour but we saw so many beautiful sights. Thank you Henry for educating us and introducing us to the Hawaiian tradition and gracious spirit. I’ll have to add black sand beach and lava tube photos later they are one of our friends phones!

This was an incredibly full tour of the island made even better by our tour guide, Derek! He was very personable and he shared a lot of knowledge with some humor mixed in. He knew when to talk and when to let us relax. He paid attention to specific needs and likes of the group. For example, one person loved pigs, so when he saw them, he stopped the van so we could take pictures. Another was a football player, so he pointed out things that might be of interest to him. He was able to fit everything in without lagging or rushing. It was worth the money!
