This is a great Irish pub. The employees are cheerful and friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere is fun and lively. There is plenty of seating. They have some outdoor seating too. They have dartboards. They have a live band that is really good. I highly recommend the Starry Plough.

Family owned and operated since 1973 … now in its 3rd generation … this is the place for family, friends and community.

Live Music Thursday-Friday-Saturday,
Poetry Slam, Open Mic, Monday Irish Dance Lessons, on Sunday Live Irish Music Session … Often with Colorful Weekend Day Events For Children, Parents and Care Givers/Receivers.

The food is delicious and is served until 10:00pm.
Corned Beef Cabbage a Pub staple, Hamburgers, Shepherds Pie, Chicken Wings, Fish & Chips, Sandwiches, Fries and Garlic Fries, Homemade Soups, Salads … Root Beer Float … and of course;

Draft Beers, Wines, Ciders, Irish Specials and Non-Alcoholic Beers, Sodas, Juices, Iced Tea, Tea & Coffee.

This is by far my favorite Irish spot in the Bay Area. Everything about this place is awesome (and authentic). The people, the food, the nightly programming is outstanding, they allow folks under 21 until 10pm (making it great spot to take my son). It’s grand. Happy days for those who make it here. Five stars ?

It’s been roughly a month since my husband and I visited Berkeley and we miss this pub so much.
Right off the Ashby line and truly a locals spot. Everyone was so incredible and we were welcomed into the fold pretty quickly with my husband being drafted to play a few games of darts with some of the regulars. Cameron is a great bartender and I encourage you to ask about the history of the place. Cannot recommend a visit enough.

The most unexpected place I think I've ever been to in my cross-country travels. The first time I walked in the door, Irish musicians kept gathering throughout the afternoon to join the music circle and add their talents. It was incredible. My next visit was to an open mic featuring singing, comedy, storytelling, all of it insanely entertaining. They have an event calendar that won't quit. A fascinating history. A nice variety on tap. Decent food. And a cute bartender. Really, what more could you ask for 10/10

Great, great place! Has to be my favorite bar (or pub as you prefer) maybe anywhere. I love going on Sunday nights, grabbing a cider and a shepherd's pie, and listening to the Irish music session composed of people just from the community. Such a great communal vibe!

I went to an open mic and poetry slam. The vibe was nice. I only ordered French fries, but the chef seemed skilled, and the food looked good. I also had two beers.
