In November of 2018, our home in Malibu burned to the ground. My builder suggested I engage Andy Bratz of Draphics, Inc, as my designer. What a great choice!

Andy and I have been working together for about a year. That sounds like a long time, but I’m a novice at knowing anything about rebuilding or designing a home and I wanted my new home to be perfect.

After much thought and research, I decided to go with a Hamptons-style house. I printed off scores of Instagram photos on HamptonsHomes, and using a similar floor plan to our original home, I put together a big poster of what I wanted. I glued my amateur floor plan (drawn on graph paper) onto a poster board and glued my favorite photos surrounded it. I had photos for the entry, the great room, the fireplace, the kitchen, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, pantry, small office and laundry room. I had photos for door styles, walk-in closets, roof-lines, windows, built-ins, linen closets and more… Andy was able to take all my Hamptons ideas and make them into a stunning and cohesive new plan. He cleverly incorporated his space-saving ideas so that every inch counts in this new house.

I have never been pressured by Andy to hurry my okay on any of these drawings. Any revisions I wanted, Andy and I easily did them over the phone and Facetime. He definitely has my back and wants me to be very happy with the final home.

The proof is always in the pudding. My preliminary plans were approved the first time my builder met with the City of Malibu Planning Department. While we’re still working on the garage and cabana plans— and the next stages of rebuilding the main house— I have every confidence that Andy will do an excellent job. I highly recommend him.
