This spot has a rustic, underground winery-bar vibe, which was nice, though I wasn’t a fan of the eerie photo decor. We visited on a weekday when it wasn’t busy, so we easily found a seat and ordered right away.

The cocktail menu featured unique ingredients that caught our attention, so we decided to try their spring offerings, planning to return for the regular menu later. Unfortunately, while the drinks started off decent, the more we sipped, the worse they tasted. Something about the combination of spirits didn’t sit well with us, and we both ended up with slight headaches—mine faded after an hour, but my husband's lasted all night.

Ursula Major ($17): Bearface whiskey, Ford’s gin, allspice dram, crème de violette, lemon, orgeat, honey, absinthe rinse. Less bold than a typical whiskey drink. My husband, who loves absinthe and usually orders whiskey-based cocktails, didn’t particularly enjoy this and thought it was okay.

Nebula ($17): Ming River baijiu, Waterloo #9 gin, Chareau aloe liqueur, lemon, pineapple gum, hibiscus. It started off slightly sweet but had an unpleasant aftertaste that lingered.

While the atmosphere and concept were intriguing, the cocktails didn’t hit the mark for us.

What a fantastic gem in downtown Austin! We loved every part of the experience at Dumont's Down Low—the entrance, ambiance, music, drinks, and service were all exceptional. It's the perfect place for a date night.

I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to review Dumont’s. I recommend it to all anyone looking for an amazing cocktail and wonderful service. The staff is top notch and the drinks are AMAZING. If you’re looking for a wonderful staple of Austin, Texas, Dumont’s is it. Everyone who works here produces delicious cocktails and personalizes the experience. Huge shout out to Trevor, his unique ability to turn a drink into a memory is truly special. Hands down my and my boyfriend’s favorite and most frequented bar in Austin.

If i could say 0 stars i would apparently Kyle and the bar manger Trevor hate there jobs and they made it very obvious TN some of the worst and most disrespectful service I've ever received interacting with these two genuinely ruined our night and they both give off bad energy! Serving cocktails and giving great service should come hand in hand especially at a place like Dumonts i suggest the owner get people in that actually love there jobs and want to represent the business in a positive manner.
They were disrespectful offensive and just acted like they hated their jobs super sad to see! I would never recommend this business and would not recommend anyone come here!

I was in Austin for one night on business. Had quite a few local Speakeasy bars to pick from, and I landed at Dumonts. Can I just say that I'm super glad I did. Trevor, the bartender, was awesome to chat with, and the drinks were damn good. I will be back to Dumonts next time I return to Austin!

DuMont’s Down Low is a great speakeasy on 4th Street in downtown Austin. I have been wanting to go for quite some time and finally got the chance. Getting there around 8PM on Saturday was the move. Leaving around 9:30, the place was packed! And bachelorette parties should stay away, they ruined the vibe of the place when they got there. Thankfully they weren’t there long. Go check it out!!

Great bar with Speakeasy vibe in Downtown. Not a speakeasy though (like some people here call it) - pretty obvious entrance. Wine cellar vibes with leather couches. Cocktails are great!
