A reader’s paradise / dream come true. Beautiful architecture, amazing design, extensive collection of books and such thoughtful furniture. Absolutely loved it. One can easily spend a day here. The 6th floor roof garden is gorgeous with amazing views of the lake and buildings. Open and spread out seating. The inside staircase of the library is gorgeous! One would be in awe of the well thought out design. Kids section is super cute with some games, large size chess board, arts / crafts area, computers with games and an outdoor reading porch area. Bummer that the coffee shop was closed. Gift shop was nice but very overly priced. There was a lot of staff on each floor to assist / answer questions. They also had a movie playing with headsets on the entrance of the library.
PARKING : There is a parking garage attached to the Library on West St.

Checked out this library on a trip to Austin. Absolutely amazing. The architecture is incredible. Love all the natural light. A rooftop reading area! The area for teens 13-18 to have their own space. 3-D printers?!? If I lived in Austin I would visit all the time.

My new workplace is in Austin but it doesn’t count as your residence to get a library card that’s why it’s a three for me. Best public library I’ve seen so far in Texas. Homeless people are able to access the premises for computer needs etc. impressed with how people are in order and the way the floors were divided. Liked the rooftop concept with solar panel ceiling. Teen room was cool. Quiet rooms were quiet! All I asked for in a library plus 3D printers were accessible! Great amount of plugs for your devices. Affordable parking.

FANTASTIC library, lots of places to study, read, or bring your children to play. There's community board games that you can play, chess in many different locations, computers, printers that are free for students and children of all ages, and many zine making events throughout the year. I love all the decorations and colorful set pieces throughput the building.
