It's a quiet public library in Elmhurst, Queens. The staffs at the customers service and a front desk at 2nd floor are helpful and nice.

The reading spaces are big enough for readers

The library is clean, well organized with modern style

If anything I can request here, it'd be the scent of the library because I have to hold my breath while I'm using the computer because I smell BO "Body odor"

, I have been visiting this library for infants/toddlers activities. It is very close to my house, and the kids activities are excellent fun. They play music, sing, and dance, which is awesome. The main problem is customers service front desk, most of which are very old uncles and aunties who don't respond well or are rude, and librarians who behave impolitely are extremely annoying. When toddlers touch a book, they start screaming

Jillian, the manager at the library, is a wonderful and supportive professional. I accidentally left my phone behind, and initially thought it had been stolen. She kindly lent me her phone so I could contact the police, and then emailed me as soon as my phone was found. I'm truly grateful for her assistance.

However, my experience with the woman in the children's room was less pleasant.(She was a Caucasian woman in her late fifties, with hair that was half white, a thin face, and fierce, intense eyes ) While searching for books for my niece and nephew, she was quite rude and asked me to leave. I chose to leave in order to avoid further conflict, but I hope the library can work on improving customer service in this area. It doesn't seem necessary to bring children along every time you need to borrow children's books.

This library is huge! I haven’t been back since they renovated a few years ago. I love how they reinvented the indoor and outdoor space. Whenever I walk by, I see a lot of people sitting in front of the library in the many benches and sitting areas. There is an outdoor reading garden and roof area. The roof area requires someone with an ID to swipe the door open so I’m guessing it’s off limits.

At first glance, the inside looks very spacious and with lots of windows-- it makes for a very bright and inviting space. Everything looks very clean and organized. But I actually find the layout of the building somewhat awkward. It feels very spacious but the reading and sitting areas are small. And most times it’s hard to find seats to read in. The building is three floors and bathrooms are in the lower level. The kids section is at the top floor. Again, even though the building is large, the kids section feels very small. In fact, they even require parents to leave their strollers outside in the hallway.

My favorite section of the library is the second floor where they have huge floor to ceiling glass windows with a small sitting area that has great views of Broadway. The windows let in a lot of natural light and it’s a great area to sit and read or take pictures. It does get very hot here though when the sun streams in through the windows.

They offer lots of activities and classes for children (toddler dancing, chess, music classes) and adults (ballroom dancing, ESL). A great library for the community.

I am here today. (Mon. 12/30/2024) For me in my opinion, this is one of the most quietest libraries I’ve ever been to. I wish other QBPLs were quiet like the Elmhurst location.

Quiet, good security, nice staff and they recommend good books. The security guard is a little too anal about noise when no one said anything

The library is such a modern architecture after reconstruction. It’s very bright inside and provides a good variety of books for readers. There are a lot of books in foreign language as well.
