Had a terrible experience with this company. They contacted me to do a PR article on my sailing business. I accepted the offer because, who doesn't want free advertising for their business, right? I set up an appointment for two day later. I received no less that 5 appointment reminders, within this timeframe. Great, we are overly confirmed and we should be all set. Come time for the appointment, the representative, Martin Hanks, never showed up. Waited the entire 45 minutes, nothing. No communication what so ever. I then emailed him and the company, no response. I also called the number provided on their website. The person on the phone was nice, but couldn't help me with my situation or point me in the right direction of who to talk to. She said she would "relay the information." I didn't even hire this company, they sought me out, then gave me poor service. Based on this, I wouldn't trust them with my PR or business marketing needs.

My experience with the Umbrella Local was beyond disappointing—it was a nightmare. While they present themselves as a comprehensive back-office solution that simplifies your operations, my reality was the complete opposite.

The worst part? Their salespeople and account executives will say whatever it takes to get you to sign up. After a year of not finding the value they claimed, I decided to cancel my subscription. Despite this, they charged me a $4,500 renewal fee. I only got this refunded after I sent a strongly worded letter drafted by my attorney.

But it gets worse. One of my clients is now being sued by Umbrella Local. The sales representative assured me that their contracts were just boilerplate and that clients could cancel without issue if they weren’t satisfied after three months. While the contract didn’t explicitly say this, I was led to believe it wouldn’t be enforced because the legal costs of pursuing a breach would outweigh the potential recovery. Against my better judgment, I moved forward based on their assurances.

When my client canceled their contract, and I had already ended my subscription, Umbrella unauthorizedly drafted funds from my bank account. To this day, I haven’t been able to recover that money. Meanwhile, my client is dealing with a lawsuit.

The Umbrella Group is not what they claim to be. What they promise and what they deliver are worlds apart. If you’re considering working with them, my advice is simple: don’t.

They schedule business meetings and failed to show up to the business meeting and after I contacted them through email and through Facebook, they still have yet to reply, which has caused my company to lose money since I was supposed to be at a business meeting And was not able to receive phone calls from customers for 45 minutes while I was waiting on this meeting that umbrella local failed to show up to
