I hired North American Advertising through an agency at the start of 2023, right before the rainy season, hoping to boost business for my roofing company. My SEO company convinced me that paid ads would get me to the top of Google quickly and start bringing in leads right away. NAA made it sound like they had experience running roofing campaigns before, so we figured this would be an easy project. It wasn’t.
The agency charged me $2000 a month—$1000 of that was marked up from NAA’s $500 fee—because, hey, they’ve gotta make their money too, right? On top of that, I still had to pay for ad spend. For all that money, I got mostly junk leads. About 75% of them were useless—job seekers, people way outside my service area, or folks looking for services I don’t even offer. I wasted hours answering bad calls while my business suffered. One time, I even drove 6 hours to give an estimate for what seemed like a good lead, only for it to fall apart because it wasn’t properly qualified.
When I raised concerns, they tried to shift the blame onto me. They kept saying I wasn’t “following up with the leads enough.” But let’s be real—if you’ve already pitched someone on a new roof, called them 2-3 times, and they’re still entertaining offers from other companies, calling them again just feels like harassment. It was clear their excuse was just a cover for the fact that they were sending me bad-quality leads to begin with.
They promised to fix targeting and automation, but nothing ever improved. Their ads were so bad that I had to start going door-to-door offering concrete work just to stay afloat. The financial hit was brutal—I paid thousands in management fees and ad spend with almost no return.
Bottom line: NAA dropped the ball on even the basics of account management while charging premium rates. Don’t waste your time or money. They’ll bleed your budget dry and leave you with excuses instead of results.
