I gave the owner $1K as a deposit. I did change my mind 48 hours later, contacted him immediately, and asked for a partial refund, as he did not start any work (he said the project would take 30-45 days, and this is one reason I changed my mind, because he was too vague for my needs). I offered to give him $200 for our initial 30-minute conversation, so the refund I requested was $800. He said he would give me something. Two months later, I have not heard from him. I think my offering $200 for an introductory conversation is fair, especially since such a conversation would not be subject to a fee anyway. I commuicated with him by phone and email, very politely. Bottom line, he took one thousand dollars from me and rendered no service. Is he a good web designer? Maybe. A person of integrity? No.

He excelles at designing logos which is crucial if you are going to have a catchy site. He doesn't forget about you when the job is completed as he stays in touch and gives you guidance as your business progresses. I highly recommend him.
